So I’m sitting in my psychology 101 class.
It’s real exciting.
So exciting I decided to start blogging again.
The last time I blogged I used a livejournal.
More people seem to be using this these days. So I’ll start using it too.
What can I say. I’m a follower. But aren’t we all?
We’re all followers at one time or another.
Whether it’s about choosing a new football team. Liking a new band. Liking a new person.
Liking yourself. Liking your life.
This world is full of followers and not enough strong leaders.
Society tells us that good leaders are ones that yield power, and know what to do with it.
I disagree. Like most of what society tells us.
Leadership is influence. The stronger the influence one has, the more that one would not only follow, but would also gain that influence as well. This is an aspect of leadership that power does not have. The only aspect that power has is power. You get power hungry. You do crazy things, like say, sleep with Monica Lewinsky. Or shave your head in public. Or kill yourself.
What’s popular these days isn’t influence. It’s insanity.
We must become these new leaders. Not because of popularity or power.
Let’s lead. Not follow.
